Repo! will include not only opera but rock, rap and ballads as well. Brightman and Sorvino are operatic performers, while Ogilvie and Hilton have backgrounds in popular music. All of the dialogue in the film is sung not spoken, which means the entire cast had to be up to the challenge. In addition to the aforementioned Paris Hilton, the cast includes international recording artist/performer Sarah Brightman (making her feature film debut), Anthony Head ( Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Bill Moseley ( Halloween, The Devil's Rejects), Paul Sorvino ( Goodfellas), Alexa Vega ( Spy Kids), and Kevin Graham Ogilvie (a.k.a. Japanese musician, songwriter and composer Yoshiki Hayashi (better known as simply Yoshiki) is producing the film's soundtrack. Darren Lynn Bousman ( Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV) is directing from a screenplay by Terrence Zdunich and Darren Smith, co-creators of the original stage production of the same name upon which the film is based. The Genetic Opera unquestionably have plenty of passion regrettably, they could have used a bit less passion and a little more thought and judicious editing.Set in the not-so-distant future, Repo! The Genetic Opera tells the story of an epidemic of organ failures that devastates the planet, killing tens of millions. Bousman also doesn't do much to shape the material or the performances in a clear way, choosing instead to let the hammering, droning songs propel the film from one moment of special-effects gore to the next.
Director Darren Lynn Bousman wrings every possible penny of production value out of his budget - the Blade Runner-inspired future mega-city is an eye-popper - but the comic-book style graphic interludes that set up the story and show viewers establishing flashbacks are so static and long that they become a bore.

REPO! THE GENETIC OPERA began as a stage play musical the screen version is bigger, bolder - and bloodier.
